P&O Cruises - Iona

Dave worked along side his colleagues at P&O Cruises and Creative Project Design in Southampton to act as the owner's representative for the commissioning stage of Iona's build based in Papenburg and Bremerhaven, Germany.

Arrival

January 2020

Dave was brought on board through Creative Project Design as the on-site Project Manager responsible for the commissioning phase. Working alongside Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Team Management

February 2020

Managing a team of 6 full time commissioners in the sound, lighting and video specialties, Dave begins to manage the first stages in the commissioning phase.

The Build

2018 - 2020

A great deal of new technology is being implemented into Iona. One of those systems is Blacktrax by Cast. This system will offer three venues on board, fully automated followspot tracking in real time. Another system being used for the first time on a P&O Cruises ship is Dante Domain Manager from Audinate across all the main entertainment venues.

SAGA Cruises - Spirit of Discovery

Dave worked along side his colleagues at Creative Project Design in Southampton to act as the owner's representative for the first new build undertaken by SAGA in the company's history.

Initial Consultation

January 2017

Dave was brought on board through Creative Project Design to act as the owners representative for SAGA. Working alongside Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Ship Specification

February 2017

The specification of the new build was drawn up, evaluated and refined to create the best possible product for SAGA in terms of cost benefit and future proofing.

The Build

2017 - 2018

Throughout the build, Dave advised on all areas of the entertainment systems of the ship, including a ship wide fibre networking backbone, sound, lighting, video, broadcast systems, background music integration, Q-Sys and DANTE® networking.

Personnel Consultation

January 2019

With considerable experience in entertainment personnel management, Dave liaised with SAGA to accurately predict the requirements for staffing a new vessel. This included working along side the shoreside Entertainment Management team, Hotel Managers and key SMT members.

The Launch

July 2019

Having been named by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, Spirit of Discovery sailed on her maiden voyage in July 2019.
